ChambaTalk terms of service

What these terms cover

These terms are the agreement between you and ChambaTalk for using the ChambaTalk Android app, the web app at app.chambatalk.com, and the website at chambatalk.com. By creating an account, or by using any part of the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and what we do with it. It is a separate document, and these terms do not change it.

Who we are

ChambaTalk is a business operated from Texas, United States. When these terms say “we”, “us” or “ChambaTalk”, that is who they mean. You can reach us at support@chambatalk.com.

Your account

The glossary is open to anyone. Everything else — the translator, the Talk screen, crew messaging — needs an account. To create one you must be at least 13 years old and give us a working email address. If you are under 18, use ChambaTalk only with the permission of a parent, guardian or your employer.

Your account is yours. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at support@chambatalk.com if you think somebody else has used it. Whatever is done from your account is treated as done by you.

You sign up as a supervisor or as a crew member. A supervisor who creates a crew is responsible for who they let into it; a crew member who joins with an invite code is trusting the supervisor who sent it. If you create an account or a crew on behalf of a company, you confirm that the company has allowed you to, and these terms bind the company too.

Translation is done by software

ChambaTalk's translations are produced by software, not by a person. They are good enough to run a jobsite day to day, and they can still be wrong: a word missed, an instruction turned around, a regional term read the wrong way. Read the translation before you send it, and when it matters, confirm that the other person understood.

Do not rely on ChambaTalk alone for anything where a mistranslation could hurt someone or cost real money — safety instructions, hazard warnings, operating equipment, medical situations, contracts, pay, or anything legal. The glossary marks some terms as safety-critical because they deserve extra care, not because the app guarantees them. The person giving an instruction stays responsible for making sure it was understood, and for following the safety rules that apply to their work.

ChambaTalk is not a certified or sworn translation service, and its output is not a substitute for a qualified interpreter where the law or an authority requires one.

Crews and messages

A crew is a group under a supervisor. Everyone in the crew can read what is posted to the crew's chat; a one-to-one chat is between the two people in it. When you send a message, the original is always delivered. The translation is added when it is ready, and if translating fails, the original still goes through.

Messages other people sent stay in the crew after you leave or delete your account — they are their words. A crew you created passes to the longest-standing remaining member when you go. Supervisors can add and remove members of their crews, and being removed from a crew ends your access to its chat.

Your content

What you type or say into ChambaTalk is yours. To run the service we need your permission to handle it, so you grant us a license to store your messages, send them to our translation and speech providers, translate them, read them aloud, and deliver them to the people you sent them to. That license lasts as long as the content is in the service and ends when it is deleted, with one exception below.

Phrases that have been translated, and the synthetic audio produced for them, go into a shared cache that holds no record of who asked. Those entries are not linked to your account and are not deleted with it, and you agree that we may keep and reuse them. The privacy policy describes the cache.

We do not train AI models on your messages ourselves, and we do not sell them. You are responsible for what you send: do not post content you have no right to share, and do not post other people's personal information without their permission.

The glossary and our content

The glossary, the articles, the app, its design and its code are ours or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright. ChambaTalk and its logo are our marks. You may read and use the glossary freely, in the app and on the website, with or without an account. You may not copy it in bulk, republish it, sell it, or build a competing product from it. Short quotations with credit to ChambaTalk are fine.

Plans, trials and payment

Crew members never pay. The Free plan is free for as long as you like and includes the translator, the glossary, the Talk screen, and crew messaging up to the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans, for supervisors and companies, remove those limits. What each plan includes and what it costs is shown at chambatalk.com/pricing and at checkout; the price at checkout is the price you pay.

Every new account starts with a free trial of the Pro plan, currently 14 days. No card is needed and nothing is charged. When the trial ends the account simply moves to the Free plan: a crew that grew beyond the Free limits keeps every member it has, but cannot add more until its owner subscribes.

Paid plans are sold only on the web, at app.chambatalk.com/billing, and are billed by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see your card number. A subscription renews automatically — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — until you cancel it, and you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method on file for each renewal. If a renewal payment fails we will tell you, and after a grace period the account moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted, and your crews keep talking.

Prices can change. If the price of a plan you are subscribed to goes up, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then. Taxes are added where the law requires. Discount codes and referral offers are for the use described when they are given, and we may withdraw a code that is being misused.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel any time from Billing → Manage subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for and is not renewed after that. We do not refund or credit the unused part of a billing period, except where the law where you live requires it. If you believe you were charged in error, write to support@chambatalk.com within 30 days and we will look into it.

Deleting your account cancels any subscription on it at the same time, so nothing is charged after that. The unused part of the current period is not refunded, as above. If a company plan you paid for continues under a new owner, it runs to the end of the period you paid for and is not renewed; the new owner can subscribe in their own name.

Acceptable use

Use ChambaTalk for lawful work communication. Do not use it to harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone; to send spam or unsolicited offers to the crews you are in; to break the law or help someone else break it; to post someone else's private information; or to impersonate another person or company. Do not try to get into accounts or crews that are not yours; probe, overload or interfere with the service; scrape it or run automated tools against it; resell translations or wrap the service inside another product; or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows.

Translation costs us money on every request, so each account has a daily limit on how many translations it can ask for. The limit is generous for a person doing their job and exists to stop abuse. If you hit it honestly, tell us.

If you break these rules we may remove content, pause a crew, or suspend or close your account, with or without warning depending on how serious it is. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Third-party services

Translation, speech recognition and the spoken voice come from AI and speech providers we contract with; our database and sign-in run on Supabase; the web app is served by Vercel; and payments go through Stripe. The privacy policy names them and says what each one receives. Those providers handle your data under their own terms. We choose them with care, but we do not control them. The Android app is distributed through Google Play, which is not a party to these terms and does not sell ChambaTalk subscriptions.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep ChambaTalk up, and we do not promise it always will be. Things fail — our providers, the network, the phone. We may add, change or remove features, and we may retire old versions of the app; when an update is required, the app will say so. If a change removes something you paid for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your period.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. It is immediate and permanent, and the privacy policy says exactly what goes and what stays. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we may shut the service down, in which case we will give notice by email where we can. The sections on your content, our content, warranties, liability and disputes keep applying after an account is closed.

No warranties

ChambaTalk is provided as it is and as it is available. Beyond what these terms say, we make no promises about it — not that it is error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose, and not that any translation is accurate or complete. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim every warranty, express or implied. Some places do not allow this; there, you have the rights that the law gives you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ChambaTalk is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost work, injuries or fines, arising from your use of the service or from a translation, however caused. Our total liability to you for anything connected to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

If a third party makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law while using the service, you agree to cover the costs and damages that claim causes us.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If something goes wrong, write to support@chambatalk.com first — most problems can be sorted out in an email. If we cannot resolve it that way, any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we each agree to that venue. Where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, that right is not affected.

Changes to these terms, and contact

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. For a change that matters — pricing, what you agree to, how disputes are handled — we will email the address on your account or show a notice in the app before it takes effect. Using the service after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel your subscription and delete your account.

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are written in English and Spanish; if the two ever differ, the English version controls.

Planes, pruebas y pagos
